Details of the Crash

At a private airstrip in North Carolina, while conducting flight training, the Cessna 172 Skyhawk that we utilized crashed.

The flight instructor, who had more than 30 years of accident-free flight instruction, and the pilot he was training are both fine.  It is nothing short of a miracle that they weren't killed or seriously injured!

Thankfully, the accident wasn't caused by mechanical failure.  While performing a "go-around," the airplane encountered a strong gust of wind that prevented the plane from gaining altitude.  It then impacted trees at the end of the runway (see above, right!).

The airplane is totaled, and although the plane came to rest on a driveway, only a few feet from a fence, no damage was done to private property.

However, from a logistical standpoint, this is a major blow for Compass.  In addition to losing the use of this plane, the other training aircraft (a Cessna 206), which Compass has been using, has been sold by its owner.  This means we need replacement aircraft to keep providing advanced training to missionary candidates.

We urge you to be praying with us as we seek God's will and provision regarding a replacement airplane to use for the primary training as well as one for the advanced training.

We thank God that He is trustworthy, that He is the God of all circumstance, and that He is in control and not us.  Please be praying for much-needed encouragement, direction, provision, and help.
