Flight Training
Type of flight training that we offer as part of our standard training curriculum:
- Compass tailors flight training to meet the needs of individual candidates. Typically a pilot will begin at Compass with at least a Private Pilot’s certificate, and it is our goal to provide them with all the requirements of the organization of their choice.
Scope of our training:
- Our goal is to provide flight hours in a SEL aircraft up to the required amount set by a mission organization. A portion of this may be obtained at no cost to the candidate in flights associated with the maintenance facility (eg. aircraft delivery or as a ‘chase pilot’ after an annual inspection).
- Additional training typically includes instrument and commercial (if not already obtained), and high performance time in order to meet the requirements of the organization (often 50 hrs). This high performance time consists of specialized preparation for the mission field, including low-level cross-countries, mountain flying, and a multitude of takeoffs and landings at unimproved airstrips.
- If appropriately rated as a CFI, flight hours may be obtained by providing instruction.
How many flight hours of training do you typically provide:
- Compass’ goal is to help candidates meet the requirements set by mission aviation organizations such as MAF, JAARS, and NTMA. The flight hours required vary between organizations, but are typically between 300 and 500 flight hours.
Type of training:
- Free accumulation of flight time delivering aircraft to/from customers or as a ‘chase pilot’ prior to or following maintenance (limited number of hours).
-Affordable rental of aircraft for specialized training (eg. Instrument, High Performance/Complex, Commercial, etc.).
- Availability of aircraft for CFI’s to provide training to others.
Flight Simulator
Our flight simulator is a FlyThisSim Touch Trainer VM certified FAA BATD.
It can simulate both Cessna and Piper aircraft, singles and twins, with a variety of avionics, and is located in the 24hour access area of the FBO.
Type of aircraft used for training:
- Cessna 172
- Cessna 206
- FAA Certified BATD Flight simulator
