How Compass Aviation Works

We are essentially a ‘residency program’ for future missionary pilot/mechanics. It is both a maintenance facility and flight training facility for individuals who have their A&P mechanic’s license and at least a Private Pilot’s license, and are seeking to further their experience and thus meet the requirements set by other sending organizations

Steps to the Mission Field

Step 1 - Earn your Private Pilot's License and/or A&P Certificate. Private Pilot training can be done here at Compass but you will pay the standard (non-missionary) rates for the instructor and aircraft rental.

Step 2 - Apply to join Compass Aviation as a Missionary Candidate

Step 3 - Complete your FAA Certificates and ratings and required minimum hours. Once accepted as a Candidate you have access to discounted flight training and very low aircraft rental rates. There is also the opportunity to work in the hangar as a mechanic and use those hours towards flight training costs.

Step 4 - Pass the Technical Evaluation (TE) for your chosen missions organization - Compass has a TE Prep course and Cessna Turbo 206 specifically to give you the experience you need to not just pass but to do it with confidence.

Step 5 - Once accepted by your missions org, you will be ready to move overseas and begin field service.

OUR MISSION

Compass Aviation exists to provide future missionary pilot/mechanics with aviation experience in a facility where they can gain the flight hours and maintenance proficiency required by mission organizations.
