Maintenance Training

Scope of your training:
- Candidates entering Compass Aviation may or may not have their A&P mechanic’s license.  Previous maintenance experience is preferable and reduce the duration of training required.

- Candidates are expected to first learn the basic service items on an aircraft, and then work up to larger and more complex projects, until the Candidate is qualified (licensed) to perform various repairs as well perform 100 hour inspections.  Once licensed, Candidate will also be able to help supervise and train apprentices which will further reinforce his/her knowledge and skills.  If the Candidate is on a Maintenance Specialist track, the Inspection Authorization certification will be required.

- Candidates will gain experience on a wide variety of light General Aviation aircraft, including Single-Engine Cessnas, Beechcraft, and Pipers, as well as various cabin-class twins and Robinson helicopters.

Length of training offered:
- A&P mechanics should expect between 1 and 3 years, depending on experience. Mechanics still pursuing an A&P should expect 3 or more years.  Mechanics desiring an IA will need at minimum 3 years total experience before applying for this certification.

Type of training:
- On-the-job training is obtained throughout a candidate’s time at Compass Aviation, ranging from step-by-step walkthroughs for the less-experienced, to guidance and accountability for the more-experienced.  All training is one-on-one and hands-on, tailored for the individual needs of the candidate.
